If you are looking for a fresh, modern way to display your horse (or dog, or any other pet) at home, look no further than West and Willow custom pet portraits. West and Willow reached out to me to see if I would like a custom horse portrait of Knight, and my response was, “Yes, please!” They also extended a special offer of 10% off for Saddle Seeks Horse friends/fans. Keep reading to see how fun and easy it is to get a custom horse portrait 🙂

How Does a West and Willow Pet Portrait Work?

The process of capturing your beloved bestie in a portrait is quite simple.

First, you have to come up with a cute head shot of your horse (or dog or cat or lizard–you get the point). It can be from a high quality cell phone image or a professional photograph. They actually used an Instagram photo for my custom horse portrait.

Note: when you purchase the West and Willow portrait you will then upload the image you’d like to have them bring to life to their website.

I LOVE this photo and (spoiler alert) I love the West and Willow interpretation of the Lady Photographic picture of my horse!

The hard part will be choosing just one image that you want West and Willow to recreate digitally. The easy part will be uploading it to their site.

Next, you choose what type of background you’d like–white, charcoal (which looks almost black to me) or a very light pink. I opted for white.

On the website you can see all kinds of examples of what the backgrounds look like. I didn’t like charcoal would look good since Knight is already very dark. I like the contrast of the dark and white. I’m not really a pink kinda gal, but the pink is very subtle and classy.

There are three size options: 8 x  10, 12 x 16 and 18 x 24. My West and Willow horse portrait is 12 x 16 which I think is a versatile size. You also choose the frame color (black or white) or no frame.

The West and Willow Horse Portrait Proof Process

I got a proof of Knight back and I really, really liked it, but a couple things stood out to me as needing to be changed. Take a look at this proof and see if you can spot what I asked them to modify.

Did you guess my changes?

  1. I asked to have them trim off Knight grandpa ears tuft of hair.
  2. I decided to go with his Jockey Club name instead of his barn name. I wanted to honor his racing heritage and I just like his name. 🙂

A couple of extras you need to know about. For only $12.99 you can put a rush on your order.  Also, you can get a digital download of the West and Willow portrait for only $9.99.

If you own more than one horse, dog, cat, etc., you you can get a two or three-pet portrait. How cute is this West and Willow three-pet portrait?

West and Willow For the Quote Lover

If you like quotes, you can also do a West and Willow quote sign. This one for dog people is cute, I can picture ones like “The barn is my happy place,” or “My horse is my BFF” being awesome!

West and Willow Phone Case

If you don’t have any wall space for more pet portraits, you can treat yourself to a lovely phone case. The West and Willow phone cases come in both Samsung and iPhone varieties. They are soooo cute! And from the reviews it sounds like they’re very sturdy. Click here to check out the phone cases.

Most orders ship within 1-2 weeks! Their service is quite speedy.

I adore my West and Willow horse portrait of Knight and now the hardest part is trying to figure out where to put it in my house–it will look good on any wall. Ordering, uploading and figuring out the design choices is the easy part–selecting the perfect location for display is a little more challenging.

Remember, by using this special Saddle Seeks Horse link, you’ll get 10% off your order!
