The Coolest Grooming Brush Ever:
KBF99 Body Brush for Horses

When is a horse grooming brush not just a horse grooming brush? When it is a disease fighter ready to ward off strangles, e. coli, ringworm, mycotoxin and the like! Last fall I purchased this KBF99 body brush and it was a hit when I tried it out on my horse Knight. There’s a lot to love about this brush, including the commitment to sustainability by the company that manufactures the brush. Read on to see why it’s my favorite item in my grooming tote.

KBF99 Body Brush=Hand Comfort and Ease of Use

I’ll  start first with the comfort aspect. You might notice in the pictures how the handle is actually like a heavy duty, stretchy fabric. When you put put your hand through the strap of the handle, the brush will stay close, “partnered up” to your hand. This means you’re not exerting energy or muscles to hold the brush–it is like your hand and the brush merge into a complete unit.

For example, you know how with say a dandy brush with no strap, there is a certain level of hand dexterity and energy you are committing just to hold the brush–without actually brushing? I know in the past I’ve taken too vigorous of a stroke while grooming my horse’s side and the brush has gone flying, landing on the ground. That won’t happen with the KBF99 body brush.

Innovative Bristle Technology

According to the company’s website, “KBF99 coats the surface of plastic with molecular strands (tiny spikes or swords). It is also rich in Nitrogen molecules that carry a positive charge.  These attract the negatively charged membranes of Bacteria, Fungi, Algae and Mycotoxins. The spikes rupture the membrane, killing the cell.  The positive and negative charges then clash and the cell is blown apart.”

Let’s think about this for a second, so the actual bristles have microscopic spikes and swords that kill harmful cells?! That is wild! Here is a video showing how it works.

My Horse Likes It and It Brushes Beautifully

No matter how fancy the tech behind the brush, if my horse isn’t a fan, I won’t be either. Knight has seemingly enjoyed being groomed with this brush. I haven’t officially interviewed him, but his body language has indicated he’s pleased with it. The other important aspect is the KBF99 body brush really cleans! In California where I board, there’s a lot of dust. Think Old West movies. This brush literally will leave a clean track, just like a line on carpet once your vacuum has gone through the middle. You can clearly see where the brush has just traveled and what areas still need the brushing. Notice the “kickback” on the second photo in this blog post. That’s proof it does its job.

Sustainable Practices and the Queen’s Appointment

If you check out the KBF99 company website two notable features will pop out at you. 1. The company links to both their environmental and sustainability policies. You can read all about their practices which are dedicated to stewardship of the planet. 2. An emblem representing one of the world’s most beloved equestrians figures prominently. “By appointment to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. . .” I’m not sure what it takes for a company to get that kind of approval, but if the queen approves of the KBF99 horse grooming product line, it’s got to be good–actually more than good, excellent.
