My first Doberman was as quiet as could be. I remember I had owned her for a few months before I heard her bark. When I did hear it, it stopped me in my tracks because the sound was so deep and masculine and quite honestly scary.
The first time I saw Missie she growled and barked at me from the other side of the breeder’s kitchen island. She was polite and let me pet her a while later, but she wasn’t too sure of me.
I decided to get her anyway and one of the parting comments I remembered a couple of weeks into Missie ownership was, “She’s a very vocal girl. She likes to play and has quite a personality.”
“Very vocal” in no way describes the sheer oddness of some of the sounds she produces. I have tried to catch the craziness on camera but my phone is usually just out of reach, or by the time I get it, the sound is trailing off.
This weekend I was successful and here for your viewing and listening enjoyment is Missie in all her high pitched glory.
Side Note: I think it’s quite dramatic that she was acting like Tigger was going to kill her when his mouth was around her neck. He is a gentle creature, therefore this is all theatrics as far as I’m concerned.
So friends, what is your interpretation of Missie’s squeals and vocalizations? Do you have a dog who has odd things to say too?
Missie has range like Celine Dion!! My dog almost never barks. She does, however, howl, sing, yodel, yelp, and burp. The sounds are unpredictable. For the most part, Sumi is mute. And then, odd noises appear in the air out of nowhere. Seems like Missie is 100% after her spay. Great to see her playing.
Now the singing I would love to hear! Yes, Missie is back to her 150% self. She bounded around the house this morning after she was let out of her crate. She’s a morning dog.
