Lindsey of The Preppi Pony Company and her fav Preppi Pony.

Scrolling through Instagram, a cute graphic design of riders on a fox hunt (with a fox slyly sitting on the back of one of the horses) captured my attention. As a fan of all things riding to hounds, I perked up, reached out, and in the process met another lovely Etsy Equestrian. Today I’m pleased to share with you the work of Lindsey Rowland Peake. Lindsey is a southern gal who just got married! She sent me the response to these questions literally 72 hours before her wedding, setting a record for fastest turnaround time of any of my previously featured Etsy Equestrians. My guess is she’s really organized and I can tell is definitely a go-getter. Enjoy meeting Lindsey of The Preppi Pony Company!

Tell us about your Etsy shop and products.

My Etsy shop mainly consists of equestrian apparel–products for the rider. I like to give the option of personalization to clients so that they can feel unique! My products consist of but are not limited to: pocket T-shirts, fitted shirts, sweatshirts, pullovers, jerseys, bags, fleece headbands, high ponytail hats, jewelry, decals for tack trunks, trailers, vehicles, and laptops. We are mainly known for our riding discipline tees. I try to illustrate for all disciplines.

How did you choose the name  The Preppi Pony Company, when did you start and how would you describe your niche?

The name, The Preppi Pony Company was chosen by being inspired by Lily Pulitzer. I wanted a southern prep vibe since I was born and raised in Savannah.  I noticed that there wasn’t really anything out there yet that shared those beautiful colors and coastal feel. I used an “i” at the end of “Preppi” to be different. It was just a personal choice to stand out more.

I started this small boutique in 2017.

My niche is mainly equestrian women and children. I can offer designs for men as well, I just have not pushed as much effort into it since I have the vibrant Lily Pulitzer colors in my scheme of products.

What’s the greatest challenge and joy you face in your equestrian life?

The greatest Challenge for me is to not get so engrossed and stressed out in making sure my profile likes go up on social media. If I lose followers I get sad and assume it’s a personal hit on me as a human being, which is silly. I am a giving individual and I strive to make others happy and content before myself. That also is a challenge. I need to learn to separate my personal emotions from running this store. It’s a hobby not a lifestyle.

The joy I see in this line of work is receiving feedback and photos of my products with their new owners. It really makes my day. When people get excited to wear my designs or are very happy with their order, it really brings a smile to my face. It’s such a treat to have the ability to make people smile. I also love the positive feedback. The joys of a certain horse design coming to life and how people react to the design is so fun and rewarding.

The Preppi Pony Large Ring Keychain comes in several colors including leopard print and red plaid.

What do you do for work?

I actually own my own Print Shop. I print for locals and far away individuals. I can do large format printings, canvas printings, Business cards, postcards, photographs, invoices, RX pads, mailers. You name it.

Where do you live and what’s the horse scene like there?

I recently moved back to my hometown in Savannah, Georgia from Columbia, South Carolina. The horse scene is small but many varieties of disciplines ranging from Dressage, Hunter Jumper, Western Pleasure, Barrel Racing, Fox Hunting, Endurance Riding, you name it. We mainly drive up to Aiken, South Carolina to compete.

Whom do you regard as a hero or look to for inspiration in the horse world?

My heroes are my trainer, Katie Erpel and Ingrid Klimke. I strongly believe in the classical form of dressage but also follow heavily in current dressage. I want the good from both, and both of these individuals do this for me. Katie is amazing. She has filled in a lot of holes in my training that I never realized I had. I now look at my horse as a partner and not a tool to get further up in the levels. I try to see her pain, her pleasure to please me, and what makes her happy in her work. I commit myself to understanding proper correct ways of training whether it is on the ground natural horsemanship work, lunging for proper balance and technique, or riding under saddle.

Ingrid Klimke is just wow. Such a natural kind rider. She is flawless in my eyes. I want to strive to be like her to the best of my abilities! All of her horses always seem happy in their work and strive to please her. That’s what I want with my horse.

This The Preppi Pony Company tee caught my attention as I have ridden a buckskin in the hills near Hollywood.

Do you have any horse-related bucket list items you’d like to cross off?

Yes! I would love to experience Wellington as a bystander. I am not a confident rider unless by myself. I know I ride well but I try to not brag about it or say I am better than anyone else because we all have things to learn to further our quality of riding. I try to be humble. So I would love to just experience Wellington and shop and help my trainer go and compete there on one of my homebred babies. I also would love to see a random person wearing a PPC tee. That would be so cool!

I want to own my own small breeding facility and showgrounds in Savannah, Georgia. I want to bring a nice showground into Savannah with a covered arena, that everyone is welcome to. We do not currently have one. All disciplines can come and compete there. I enjoy creating the proper environment, and I really enjoy training horses with kind hands.

I love warmblood bloodlines, especially Dressage. I interned under a breeder and learned so much about what it takes to breed young beautiful prospects and I want to do that. I want to help a trainer who I appreciate move up in the levels and make a name for themselves and my homebred babies. Huge dream of mine. I am saving up now for it.

How do your friends describe you?

My friends describe me as kindhearted and giving. I always want to make sure they are happy and if something is wrong, I am there with your favorite treat and ready to give a hug.

“Always putting prep in your step,” is The Preppi Pony’s motto. Go check out Lindsey’s Esty store for all the goods. She has such a vast collection of merchandise, and this is just a smattering of her designs. Trust me, she really does have T-shirt designs for all disciplines.
