As if finding my possible next horse isn’t enough, I’ve been granted press credentials for the Longines Los Angeles Master’s Grand Slam Indoor competition next weekend!

If you’re not familiar with it already, this is show jumping’s equivalent to say Wimbledon or the U.S. Open.

Longines Los Angeles Master's Grand Slam

The elite show series takes place on three continents: North America, Europe, and Asia, in Los Angeles, Paris, and Hong Kong.

International riders will compete, and many of them are Olympians or World Equestrian Games veterans. Going back to the tennis analogy, the riders competing at these events are the Nadals, Federers, or Williamses of the equestrian world.

I’m looking forward to seeing some of the young riders such as Jessica Springsteen and am also eager to see show jumping veteran and California native Richard Spooner (I took a riding lesson from his mom once–so I’m one degree of separation from Richard!).

If things work out and I do purchase the horse this week, I will not spend any time with him this upcoming weekend.

A new friend who is an equestrian journalist reminded me this afternoon that when you get a new horse, it’s nice to let him take a few days to adapt to the new environment before you start working with him.

So if you’re reading this blog, Knight, I promise we’ll have fun the following weekend at the Longines Los Angeles Master’s Grand Slam. I’ll bring lots of carrots and maybe an autograph from Jessica and a hoofprint from Vindicat.

Where does the Grand slam take place? Burbank. Or Blenheim? Or where?

I know. He’s not quite mine. This is turning out top be a long weekend of waiting for Monday and the blood results. I’m going to see if I can do some live Tweeting from the LA Masters. If you’re on twitter you could be my virtual tag along. 🙂

Sounds fun! I don’t, but maybe I should hijack my mom’s account 😉

Ha ha ha. With permission, of course. If you have a favorite rider at the event I can try to get a nice shot and Tweet a pic for your mom and others to enjoy. 😉

Thank you! Can’t you get hubby to join you? Anniversary celebration?

Yeah that would have been fun, but he is out of town next weekend. I think he would have really liked it, too
