“I’m glad we’re related to a celebrity,” my nephew’s text message read after I shared the video clip of me on TV. lol! Last week I was a guest on WTMJ-Milwaukee’s The Morning Blend show sharing Marguerite Henry and Misty of Chincoteague’s backstory. It was a little nerve-wracking, leading up to the live broadcast, but when I arrived at the studio everyone was so friendly and calm, I picked up on their energy. Also, I had my Misty of Chincoteague Breyer model horse as my emotional support horse.

I was excited to talk about the 100th anniversary of the wild pony swim coming up July 30, and let viewers know the beloved author behind Misty of Chincoteague was a Milwaukee girl! That’s right—a little girl born within walking distance of WTMJ studio, Marguerite Breithaupt, would grow up to become one of the most beloved storytellers of all time. Thank you to Tiffany and Ryan Jay for making me feel like I was having a conversation with friends and letting me share about my favorite writer! Click the image below to watch the segment.

Dive into the Misty magic with me and fellow Misty fans every Monday in July at 7 PM Central on my Saddle Seeks Horse Facebook Page. I’m hosting a Misty of Chincoteague Book Club. Going to BreyerFest? I’ll be there presenting “Marguerite Henry and Misty Mania” Friday, July 11 at 1 PM in the Visitor’s Center along with my friend Amanda Geci (who has an extensive Misty of Chincoteague collection).

If you’re attending the 100th wild pony swim on Chincoteague at the end of the month, come to my talk at the Museum of Chincoteague Island Tuesday night July 29 at 6 PM. I’ll give another talk at the Chincoteague Island Library Thursday July 31 at 1 PM followed by a book signing at Sundial Books. Hope to see you.
