Thank you to my niece, Mattie, for contributing this guest review of the Kerrits Sit Tight Wind Pro Tights.
Winter has arrived in Wisconsin! And as our hearty Midwestern ancestors would say, “There’s no bad weather, only bad clothing!” If the plummeting temperatures and darkening skies before dinnertime are making you rather curl up on the couch than head to the barn, you need to check out this toasty treasure: the Kerrits Sit Tight Wind Pro Tights!

Why I Bought These Tights
Due to a recent barn change, this will be my first winter at a facility without an indoor arena. Needless to say, I was on the hunt for winter riding pants ASAP. I have a delightfully warm and flattering Kerrits riding parka, so I decided to start my search. There are several options for winter riding pants, but the Kerrits Sit Tight Wind Pro Full Seat Tight is advertised as their warmest offering.
I was also drawn in by a review written by a lady who had worn these pants on a snowmobiling trip at Yellowstone National Park and claimed that they outperformed any of the other brands she brought along!
I added them to my cart right away, figuring if they can withstand that outdoor adventure they would be just fine for a few hours out at the barn.
Finding Your Fit in the Kerrits Sit Tight Wind Pro
Ordering pants online can seem daunting, but Kerrits has a handy tool on their website to assist with sizing. By entering your height, weight, and age they will calculate an estimate of what size you should order. They also show examples of how you could size up or down, and there is an illustration of how that will affect the fit around your hip and waist.
The tool suggested I order a size small, but I decided to size up to a medium in case I wanted to have extra room for long underwear. If you prefer to take measurements, they also offer a chart to help you determine your size. These pants will fit right at the “natural waist” according to their website.
These pants are available in black, java (brown), peppercorn (gray), and ink (blue). Kerrits offers a wide variety of sizes from XS to 2X. If you would prefer a bootcut or knee-patch option, they also have got you covered!
Like Sitting on a Cloud
Kerrits has thought of every last detail with these tights. The inside of the pants as well as the phone-sized side pocket are lined with soft fleece that makes you feel like you have your favorite sweatpants on. The outside material is water resistant and allows you to easily brush off dust. While these tights are thick and wind-resistant, the bottom of the pant leg is made of a thinner fabric that allows them to slide right into your boots without pesky bunching.
I prefer full seat tights, and these feature GripTech Suede to keep you tight in the saddle even when riding frisky ponies in the snow. One thing I did notice as I pulled on the pants for the first time was that the suede does make a slight swishing sound as you walk around, much like the sound of snow pants as your legs brush together. You obviously don’t notice this while riding, but it is something to mention about this type of material.
The Sit Tight Wind Pro Tights fit more like a true pair of pants rather than skin-tight leggings. There is some stretch to the fabric, but they do not hug my body in the same way that some of my other thinner riding tights do. Be warned that if you do choose to size up like I did, you may be a victim of Saggy Butt and have some extra material gathering at your knees due its thickness.
If you prefer to dress your Kerrits Sit Tight Wind Pro tights up, they feature a 3-inch wide waistband with loops to slip in your favorite belt. May I suggest a belt like this: one size fits most.
I’ve been able to test out my new Kerrits Sit Tight Wind Pro Tights the past few weeks in my lessons and can confidently say that they are worth every penny! I’m able to focus on myself and my horse instead of thinking about how cold I am. They also make it possible to take a few extra minutes for pony cuddles and handing out treats without immediately wanting to book it back to the heated seats in my car!
Get yourself a pair of the Sit Tight Wind Pro Tights and spend less time shivering and more time enjoying your horse this winter!
