Halloween is almost here! If you’re scratching your head for ideas on how to dress up your horse, here are five horse costume ideas inspired by some of my barn pals. (This post contains affiliate links.)
1. Football player and football.
Works well with a dark horse but might not be as easy to accomplish with a gray. Smear some black makeup under your eyes (here’s my favorite mascara), wear a borrowed jersey and paint your horse accordingly. Yes, they make horse paint specifically for your equine BFF.

2. Sunflowers!
Such a cheerful costume. All you need is yellow and brown felt and some faux flowers with a yellow shirt. (The horse has a fake monarch butterfly attached to her tail which was a sweet touch.)
3. Thing 1 and the Cat and the Hat. (Good pony for wearing that hat!)
Grab a huge Christmas bow to hang on your horse, plop a Cat and the Hat hat (that sure sounds funny) on its head. Wear a red tee with the sign and red tights. Cover your riding helmet with a blue winter hat and wrap some blue tulle around your waist. Voila!
4. Subhay: Your horse can also be a sandwich artist!
Get a green piece of fabric or even a tablecloth and a white T-shirt and cap. The trickiest part will be to write out “Subhay.” I’d suggest using stencils.
5. Hurt and Bloodied Rider on an Ambulance.
All you need is red paint and a white tablecloth and fake blood!
Knight had other plans and did not participate in the costumed festivities. But he looked dapper in his new fly mask. Halloween Happenings: What horse Halloween costume ideas do you have? Do you dress up yourself or dress up other pets too?

That one was really clever! I like them all, but that took some imagination. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Love Love Love halloween classes…. one year my horse was a turkey. The whole barn went to show each of us representing the holidays. We were Thanksgiving!
That is so fun. I had a horse who acted like a turkey some days, but never dressed as one. 🙂
Mango has the “thing 1” shirt too! She would make an excellent addition to the costume lol. Love these!
