Since 2013, Saddle Seeks Horse, my equestrian lifestyle blog, has been a platform to share my riding journey, a place to connect with fellow grown-up horse girls and share equestrian product reviews. I began blogging because I knew that I wanted to write horse books to entertain and inspire fellow horse lovers. I knew I needed to find “my people” online–other women who are equally horse-obsessed. The other reason I started a blog was I was horseless in 2013, and I was having such a hard time horse shopping (it reminded me of online dating) that I had to share the madness!
About My Horse Books
I’m excited about my new book about the life of Marguerite Henry, beloved author of horse books like Justin Morgan Had a Horse, Misty of Chincoteague, Stormy, Misty’s Foal and King of the Wind. It’s titled Marguerite, Misty and Me and so far, readers are loving it.
Horses Adored and Men Endured: a Memoir of Falling and Getting Back Up. It took me 10 years and a lot of tears to complete. I basically had the worst time ever while dating and I decided to make lemonade from those lemons by chronicling the lame situations I found myself in.
Popular Equestrian Blog Posts & More
Because was a teacher for over 20 years, I like sharing what I learn with others on my equestrian lifestyle blog!
This post Avoid This Dangerous Donut in the Saddle is the most important one I have ever written and also went crazy viral! Do you know why you’re not supposed to let your horse turn its head toward your stirrup? (You’ve gotta read the donut post. It could be a literal lifesaver.)
Here’s my take on the Misty of Chincoteague conspiracy theory.
If you’re looking for safety stirrups for your English saddle, these are the ones I ride in. Read this blog post f you want to fly your horse on an airplane, (it’s what Knight’s trip from Southern California to Illinois was like).
If you lose a horse or your friend loses a horse, here’s my horse book Strands of Hope: How to Grieve the Loss of a Horse I wrote to help you feel less alone and maybe have a small measure of comfort.
About My Awesome OTTB
My retired racehorse Tiz A Knight is expensive, time-consuming, and totally possesses my heart. He is at the center of my equestrian lifestyle. Isn’t he handsome?
Other Writing, Podcasting and Speaking
In addition to writing on this blog and writing horse books, I write for equestrian lifestyle magazines like Horse Illustrated and Sidelines too. I also write for equestrian businesses. If you need a hand with your blog, email newsletter or social media, reach out. I’d love to help you.
When I’m not writing or riding, I’m talking about the equestrian lifestyle over on the Barn Banter by Horse Illustrated podcast.
