Are you into podcasts? I have to admit, I’m kind of obsessed with them. I blame my long commute. I actually listen to several non-horse related podcasts about blogging and writing, and then there are the horse ones that you probably also know and love. Horse Radio Network has quite the lineup of excellent horse-centric podcasts–something for every kind of rider (and drivers too!).

I was thrilled like Michael Jackson on Halloween to be asked to appear as a guest on an episode of Horsemanship Radio, one of Horse Radio Network’s programs. (Sorry for that little play on words–but I just did a flash mob dance to Thriller; it’s on the brain.)

The host of the show is Debbie Loucks who honestly sounds like she could be a reporter for NPR. She has a great voice and such a warm personality it was very easy to chit chat about my favorite topic–horses! I gave her a little background on the blog and we talked about my viral blog post about the stirrup getting caught on Knight’s bit.

This episode was recorded around International Helmet Awareness Day so we talked about Saddle Seeks Horse’s rockin’ Helmet Haiku contest too. Debbie challenged me to take the Helmet Haiku contest to the next level next year, which I now have to do since it was an encouragement made publicly!

Debbie grew up around horses which is probably an understatement, as her dad is Monty Roberts (I’m in awe of him!) She is also a SoCal gal like me!

If you’ve never been a podcast listener, you really should give it a shot. If you love horses and love storytelling, there’s nothing better than an episode of Horsemanship Radio. Their mission is keeping horses in people’s lives which I think is a very noble thing indeed!

Happy Listening!

I’ll have to listen on my way to the barn! I love listening to the Eventing podcast on HRN on my way since it’s about 45 minutes each way.

I haven’t listened to the Eventing show yet (probably because I’m not an eventer)! I like listening to podcasts while I’m making dinner or even doing laundry. I love to learn on the go.
