How the Hunt + Show Stock Tie Collar Works
To get show-ready, just pull the shirt over your head and voila! There are no buttons or zippers to fuss with while prepping for your course or test. I was skeptical my 7 ⅜ size head would fit through the neck hole, but I assure you it was simple to put on. The fit was extremely flattering, as it was form-fitting in all the right places.

The Hunt + Show Shirt comes with two stock loop binders that are like tiny belts which you wrap around the faux stock fabric pieces and secure with a snap. Both binders are white, however one is adorned with tiny crystals. Perfect for riders who enjoy a dash of flash. The faux stock tie can also be secured with a classic stock pin. The pinholes will not damage the shirt’s material, making for three unique ways to style one sporty yet elegant show shirt.
Just like the story Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with four girlfriends who take turns adventuring in the same pair of jeans that magically fits their varied body types, this 70° show shirt could inspire a sequel: Sisterhood of the Traveling Show Shirt. A hunter derby rider, dressage devotee and an eventer all tried the Hunt + Show Shirt. Each was enamored with the fresh design. Get to know this trio of equestrians and learn which features of the Hunt + Show shirt they liked best.
Hunt + Show Shirt for Hunter Derby
Ashley, a 20-something adult amateur from Dallas, and her horse Milo recently competed in their first hunter derby together. The 7 year-old bay Zangersheide and the young consultant who attended Texas A&M University have been a team for just a year. Ashley was proud of her partner as they placed seventh in their hunter derby debut.
“The shirt is so comfortable I felt like I was wearing Lululemon,” Ashley said, after sporting the Hunt + Show shirt at their competition in Tyler, Texas. The weather was scorching, in the 90s, yet she wore it from course walk until the end of the show day. “I wore it under my quilted vest for my course walk. It is really cute for fashion, aside from competition wear.”
Ashley, who has been competing since her short stirrup days, was also impressed with how well the equestrian show shirt conformed to her shape. “It created a sleek look with no bunching and looked great under my shadbelly.” As an equestrian who has shown on the AA and A circuits for many years, Ashley has worn several different brands of show shirts. She was delighted with both the comfort and style of the 70° Hunt + Show Shirt, a thoughtfully-designed equestrian show shirt.
Hunt + Show Shirt for Dressage
Muriel is a 70 year-old dressage rider and breast cancer survivor who always loved horses, but didn’t own one until she was 46. The retired landscape architect is a self-professed matchy matchy queen and lover of bling who dotes on her special mare Izabella. “Izzy” is an Andalusian SP mare who has been Muriel’s riding partner for four years. The pretty bay with a heart-shaped star and Muriel are currently schooling USDF 1st Level, and have shown at Training Level 3.
When they’re not practicing, you might see Muriel braiding Izzy’s mane or feeding her sugar cubes directly from her lips, like a kiss. Muriel intends to join the ranks of The Dressage Foundation’s Century Club, still competing when she is 80 and Izzy 20.
The feel-good quality of the fabric and flattering design of the Hunt + Show Shirt is what immediately stood out to Muriel. After pulling the shirt over her head for the first time, she emerged from the barn changing room exclaiming, “I wouldn’t have to wear a bra! The layer of material [of the built-in stock tie] covers me up. For someone who’s small chested. Just think of how much cooler you’d be without a bra.”
As someone who typically doesn’t show in the summer because of hot weather, preferring spring and fall, the breathability of the Hunt + Show Shirt stood out to her. “The feel of the fabric is really nice too,” she said.
This 70° Safari Shirt is a travel must-have!
Best Equestrian Show Shirt for Eventing
Fourteen-year-old Meadow has been riding for eight years, and just competed alongside her mother Julie at the American Eventing Championships at Rebecca Farm. Elan V, barn name Pepsi, is Meadow’s Hanoverian mare. The horse and rider duo competes at Novice Level. When first introduced to the Hunt + Show Shirt, Meadow’s eyes widened and she burst out, “That’s so cool!”
It’s no secret eventers have lots of gear. What makes the 70° Hunt + Show Shirt perfect for them is it is a shortcut to horse show fashion.
The formal white and attached faux stock tie preserve the tradition harkening from the sport of fox hunting, yet complete the look in a more efficient, less fussy way. Riders can focus energies on riding–not locating their stock tie and tying it properly. Because really, when was the last time you used a stock tie as a tourniquet or sling–its intended purpose in the hunt field?
