Living in California, I don’t have much need for socks in the summertime and my toes are free as a bird in my assorted flipflops. However, socks are still a requirement for riding. I have a variety of brands of riding socks I’ve accumulated through the years but my all-time favorite is now the Noble Outfitters Peddie. In this post I will share how and why this riding sock for tall boots has become my fav.

How I Met My Dream Riding Sock
One day last spring I was on my way to the barn for a lesson after work and realized I had no socks. I did not have time to go home to grab socks. I had ridden once before in paddock boots without socks and I don’t recommend it.
In a flash of brilliance I remembered if I drove a certain route to the barn, I would pass a mom and pop tack shop. From previous trips to grab fly spray and last-minute feed, it seemed they catered to more of a Western crowd so I wasn’t sure about my sock options, but I was optimistic.
I burst through the door and told the woman at the register I was on my way to a lesson and I had no socks, did they have any for tall English riding boots? And she produced the Noble Outfitter Peddies.
At that moment I recalled one of my barn friends said those were her favorite riding socks. Out of desperation and her recommendation, I bought the socks and was off to ride my handsome beast. The socks worked out great and I was hooked.
Why Noble Outfitter Peddies Are the Best Riding Socks
So why, you might ask, do I adore these socks? Well, they’re like a hybrid of comfy cushy padding for your feet and toes paired with a thin stocking of knee high panty hose (How many of you remember wearing knee high panty hose under your non-zip up tall boots back in the dark ages, when it was our only option?).
The Noble Outfitter Peddies provide a nice layer of protection for ankles and feet combined with the ease of zipping up the tall boots on a hot day when you’ve been on your feet all day for work and for some reason your calves are unusually “thick.”
To reiterate, the bottom part of the sock is like wearing a sport sock and the top part is like wearing a sheer sock. So you get foot, toe, and ankle protection because of the padding, but because of the thin material on top, your tall boots should zip up like a dream.
These socks come in all sorts of fun colors and designs like you might expect for riding socks. I picked out a dark blue paisley print pair that reminded me of a bandanna. I wore these socks during my recent Cowboy Mounted Shooting clinic which was the first time I wore my new Ariat cowboy boots and I was very comfortable on my feet and in the saddle with the new boots.
So if you’re looking for new best friends for your little toes and need to refresh your riding sock collection, give the Noble Outfitters Peddies a try. I think you’ll fall for them too.
P.S. Riding socks make a great gift for your riding friends.
Your Turn: What’s your favorite riding sock?

Noble Outfitters Peddies are the best!! I love mine. I also got a pair of their newest compression socks and wore them while walking all around Rolex on cross country day. They are good, too, though thicker so I prefer the peddies for summertime.
Good to know about the compression socks. Isn’t that what some older people are supposed to wear on airplanes? The Peddies are great. I took pictures of my own to post, but the Golden Retriever hair is a little too evident on the bottoms from when I tried to do my own low budget photo shoot.
I have problems with these sliding around on my feet and bunching up when I’m wearing my fauxbarry boots (which is most of the time, at shows). :/ I do like how comfy the foot is though.
Weird! Mine fit very comfortably on my feet (but I have large feet–size 10). I’ve never had a bunching up problem. “Fauxberry” made me LOL! Thanks for the input.
Ditto on the dog hair. 🙂
I love these socks too.
You’re the one who first tipped me off to these amazing socks. Thank you!
Those are my favorite socks too, but I only wear my tall boots at shows so they don’t get much use. I love socks though so I actually wish I could buy more cute boot socks.
Well, if you go to more shows, then you’ll have a good excuse to wear your fav socks more. How do you like that logic? 🙂
I tried these once and did not like them. They were too big! Normally I just wear normal sport socks and my breeches under my tall boots.
Interesting. Maybe they work well on my friend who recommended them and me because we are both tall and I have large feet. Not sure about her. So your sport socks aren’t too thick to wear under your boots?
