Here is a book that was published in 2020, and it is about the Kentucky Derby: THE GREATEST GAMBLING STORY EVER TOLD: A True Tale of Three Gamblers, the Kentucky Derby, and the Mexican Cartel, by Mark Paul. The story has been picked up for a series on Netflix, but the pandemic seems to be delaying production. The book contains a lot of good information about the filly, Winning Colors, who won the 1988 Kentucky Derby, and about the people who work in the racing industry. The story about the gamblers includes undercurrents of romance, and an overt story about international intrigue. (Full disclosure: I was the editor of this book, but I’m going out on this comment limb because it was one of the most fun edits I’ve ever had the honor of performing!)
